Last month, EarthEcho Communications and its partners launched the EU-funded “Shawiri” project in Moroni, Comoros. The project aims to enhance the protection and participation of women, youth, and civil society, marking a significant step towards addressing gender-based violence through positive masculinity. As a co-implementor, EarthEcho introduced the first activity: an audio-visual educational tool capturing young Comorians’ perspectives on this crucial issue.

Over the course of the implementation period (2024-2027), our efforts in this project will focus on:

– Enhancing institutional communication from a holistic perspective

– Building capacity and raising awareness for civil society and authorities

– Training journalists for sensitive and equitable media reporting

– Engaging communities in education and rights protection

– Providing technical assistance to gender groups and youth councils

The EU-funded project is implemented by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), Maeecha, the French Red Cross-Comoros, and EarthEcho Communications, in collaboration with national partners including local government entities, CSOs, women’s platforms, cultural activity centres, and state bodies dedicated to the rights and protection of women and young people.
